The Girls Cross Country team swept the Shenandoah meet, winning middle school, JV, and varsity races on October 1. The whole team won and swept the meet as a team.

Everybody was excited when the girls swept it. The girls are looking strong as the season draws to an end

“It was pretty exciting the entire girls’ XC program swept the meet at Shenandoah,” said senior Emma Hughes “It’s always so fun to watch every girl on the team have success. Our coaches have created an awesome atmosphere  and program all around.”

The sweep is a huge accomplishment for the team. In cross country, a sweep is when all of the teams like varsity, JV, and middle school teams all win in their race for the team.

“Actually, we haven’t made a sweep one of our goals, but this is something to think about for the future,” said Head Coach Dani Woodman “Each team does strive to win each race, so in a sense, we do reach for this. It’s fun when we can all win together.”

The team is running strong. Compared to last year, they are still running better as a team and have a good chance to send runners to state.

“This season has been going very well for me and the team,” said senior Erin Schultz “We are winning more meets compared to last season and running more like a pack during both meets and practices. Overall I think everyone has a lot of trust in one another to race smart so we all stay together.”

The team will travel to Denison for their next invite on October 15.
