Boy’s tennis finished their season with a record of 2-7, winning against Southwest Valley and Harlan. Outstanding players on the team included junior Calvin Little, who finished fifth in the conference in number one singles and a 6-3 record, sophomore Tegan Matheny, who placed fourth at conference in the number two singles and sophomore Ryan Blum, who had a 4-2 record in the number six singles.

First year coach Trent Turney was content with the boys’ season.

“My experience was pretty great,” said Turney. “ I have been coaching the last two years as the Nebraska City tennis coach. I was very happy with all of the students from other clubs and organizations who came out and supported us on the road and at home.”

Turney plans to train the boys harder for next season during the summer.

“We need to practice and hit more balls during the summer,” said Turney. “We also need to work on consistency and being aggressive at the net in doubles.”
