Boys’ Soccer Season Starting Strong

The Glenwood boys soccer team started their season off 2-2. April 4, the Rams hosted Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, The Glenwood boys fell short 1-2.

Next the Rams traveled to Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Sergeant Bluff-Luton got on the board first. Glenwood answered back with a goal of their own. The game remained tied 1-1, not even a second overtime could end the game. Sergeant Bluff-Luton came out on top after scoring a penalty kick.  

Then the Rams then traveled to Kuemper Catholic on March 29. After going into halftime tied, Palmer scored an early goal in the second half. The score was still tied until the seventy-sixth minute when Palmer score once again to seal a 2-1 win over Kuemper Catholic.

Next, March 28, The Rams traveled to Missouri Valley, and routed the Big Reds 10-0. Goals were scored by seniors Jack Finn and Turner Reich; juniors Kyle Jorgensen, Cody Lampman and John Palmer.

Glenwood numerous goals this season and like everyone else, winning a state championship is on top of that list.

Junior Zach Joyce said, “Our teams goals include being good teammates, improving our game, and winning a state championship.”

Though it’s early, the boys’ are hoping for a winning season.

“I feel like this season is one of our best yet,” said Joyce “Our coaches are making efforts to make sure we are a bonded team and we get along. I think that’s step number one to a state appearance.”
