A familiar face around the halls of Glenwood Community High School is moving on. Associate Principal Rick Nickerson will be leaving Glenwood immediately to pursue other opportunities.

“When I was younger, I always knew I wanted to work with kids. Glenwood has been a great place for me to do that. But now, I will be continuing my career as an assistant manager at Chuck-E-Cheese.”

Nickerson said this change for him had been a long time coming,

“I used to go to Chuck-E-Cheese when I was a kid. I used to hide from my parents in those tunnels, and it was just so peaceful,” Nickerson said.

Nickerson remembers a time in particular when he met a very kind lady working at Chuck E Cheese and realized that one day, he could make the same impact on the children there.

“Ultimately, I made this decision pretty quickly,” he said. “Once I saw the ad in the yellow pages, I knew I had to give them a call.”

After seven grueling years at GHS, Nickerson believes his experience with children will serve him well in his future endeavors at the beloved pizza eatery.

“I think with all the things I’ve seen here in Glenwood it will be a nice change of pace to work alongside that giant mouse mascot,” he said.

Nickerson mentioned that the decision was prompted by the unrivaled benefits Chuck-E-Cheese offers.

“They told me I get to wear a walkie talkie, so that’s pretty cool.”

There is no doubt that Nickerson will be dearly missed by staff and students at GCHS.
