Reach/SADD is putting on their 18th annual Breakfast with Santa this weekend. The event will be held in the lower gym at the Mills County YMCA.

Breakfast with Santa is held in the first week of December every year. Families and community members attend to play games, take pictures with Santa and dine on a hearty breakfast. Around 30 of the Reach/SADD volunteers can be seen serving food and playing games in their Christmas attire. The cost to get in is $5 for adults, $3 for kids ages 2-11 and no cost for kids under the age of two.

The money that is made pays for the cost to put on the event.

“This is a service to families of our community,” said Reach/SADD advisor Kathleen Loeffelbein, “If we do make money, it goes to the Glenwood Fire Department.”

The average attendance at Breakfast with Santa is 200 people, and a lot of the families who attend have been going for years.

“I would tell anyone who is thinking about attending to just come and join,” said senior co-chair Bailey Ostrander, “It’s a fellowship with people of all ages and overall just a super fun time.”

The event will be held this coming Saturday, December 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
