Photo club starts its fifth year in the high school this year. The club is currently running with a total of 12 members.

“The goal is to get students to enjoy taking photos that they may someday be able to sell or hang in their homes as a picture,” said advisor Kendra Biermann.

The club usually meets the first Friday of each month to discuss their assignments.

“In our meetings we vote on our favorite photos that we have entered for that month,” said senior member Jenna Howard. “Then we decide on some new topics for the next month to know what photos we should take.”

The students enter into multiple competitions with their work, such as the IWCC Juried Art Competition, Hawkeye Art Show and Keep Iowa Beautiful.

“My favorite part about photo club is entering and going to the Iowa Western art competition because I am able to see other art work and a couple of photos,” said Howard.

Photo club is always welcoming new members to share their photography.

“If you are thinking about joining, you should, because it takes very little time out of your schedule and it’s very fun to have topics to influence you with your photos,” said Howard.

Photo Club meets again November 28.
