The new “Tuffy” costume was unveiled September 21 at the 2018 Homecoming pep rally. The new mascot came all the way from Norway.

There has been four different “Tuffy” costumes through the years at GCHS. The news Tuffy will be able to interact with students more easily.

Superintendent Devin Embray said, “We wanted to change the ‘Tuffy’ costume due to the limited mobility of our current one.”

Tuffy has been a huge asset to our sports programs here at GCHS, pumping up our crowds at pep rallies and sporting events.

“We have planned on using ‘Tuffy’ at more than just athletic events. We want to build more Ram Pride, by having Tuffy attend other events across the district,” said Embray

The new “Tuffy” costume has met with mixed reviews from the student body.

Senior Paige Hays said, “I think it shouldn’t be grey or so scary looking, but this is also a plus because it’s intimidating to other teams.”

“I like how the new costume is different and more unique than any other mascot we have had,” said freshman Kamryn Crouch.

“It doesn’t show our school spirit because it doesn’t even look like a ram,” said junior Morgan Richter.

Sophomore Tori Hays said, “I haven’t heard one person say that they genuinely like the new Tuffy.”
